Autism services offered in Boca Raton, FL

Autism causes decreased brain waves and connectivity in certain parts of the brain, leading to unique behavior patterns and unusual ways of interacting with the world. At Wholesome Therapy Center, experienced practice founder Anastasiya Boikova, OTR, offers an innovative leading-edge therapy called Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT). Thanks to MeRT, patients may notice improvements as early as the first week of treatment. To learn more about MeRT for your child, call the Boca Raton, Florida, office or schedule your child’s appointment online.

Autism Q & A

How does autism affect the brain?

People with autism have decreased alpha coherence and connectivity in the frontal region of their brains. This leads to a combination of slow- and high-frequency behavior, unique personality traits, and unusual interactions with others.

Recent research shows that autism changes the brain far more than was previously known, so individualized testing is vitally important in understanding autism and how it works.

What tests are needed for children with autism?

Wholesome Therapy Center recommends several tests to help shape your child’s treatment plans, including:

  • Autism panel to show overall health
  • Primary reflex assessment to show whether reflexes are properly integrated
  • Electroencephalograms (EEGs) to map your child’s electrical brain activity
  • Electrocardiograms (EKGs) to map brain-heart interaction

Combining these test results allows Wholesome Therapy Center to customize an MeRT protocol for your child’s individual needs.

How does MeRT work for children with autism?

MeRT is a medication-free noninvasive treatment for children with autism, and it’s a unique version of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Magnetic pulses can trigger the part of the brain that isn’t functioning optimally, prompting the brain to start repairing the cells there.

MeRT is a highly evolved type of TMS because it uses your child’s testing information to customize the pulse frequency and location of treatment based on their unique brain function.

With MeRT, the frontal region of the brain can become more organized, and weak brain connections can be restored.

Depending on your child’s test results, they may also benefit from coaching for autism reflex integration. This approach, called Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI®), helps the nervous system to repair reflexes and improve quality of life.

How long does it take to see autism treatment results?

Many patients experience better sleep, improved mood, and better overall wellbeing* within the first week. You have an additional EEG and EKG after a week. These tests check neurological progress so providers can make any necessary changes to fine-tune and maximize results.

Then, the personalized MeRT protocol continues, with many patients having a series of 10 MeRT sessions. Similarly, many patients have 10 MNRI sessions.

Around 30% of children with autism have anxiety, and as many as 70% have attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Both of these conditions respond well to MeRT, too. MeRT is also effective for depression.
